Computer Science is a distinct science, characterized by its own concepts, methods, and body of knowledge. Computer and Information Scientists throughout Canada face many of the same challenges in research and teaching. CS-CAN/INFO-CAN provides an arena to discuss and coordinate strategic issues on research and education at a Canadian level.

Members of CS-CAN/INFO-CAN are committed to shaping the future of the discipline in Canada. They contribute to raising the profile and voice of the Computer Science research and academic community in Canada. 

Membership is institutional and extends to all faculty of your department/institution. We have an affordable annual membership fee scheme for academic members taking into consideration the department/institution size and national GDP.

Individual Membership is open to faculty & students in university or college and related departments in computer science, researchers and professionals in industry and government.

Departmental Membership

Departmental Membership is open to university, college and CEGEP academic departments of computer science and closely related fields as well as government research laboratories.

Corporate Membership

Corporate Membership is open to companies doing business in Canada that focus on research, development, or provision of services in the field of computing.

Departmental and Government Research Laboratory Member Benefits

  • All full-time faculty members of member university departments, including affiliate departments, qualify for membership at no additional charge.
  • Community College and CEGEP departments and Government Research Laboratories may identify up to five members for membership at no additional charge.
  • All departments may post department job postings on the CS-Can|Info-Can Member Forum.
  • All departments in all institutions may submit departmental profiles on the CS-Can|Info-Can website.
  • All departments in all institutions may submit nominations for CS-Can|Info-Can annual awards.
  • University and college departments and government research laboratories are eligible to host CS-Can|Info-Can conferences and workshops.

How to Join

Becoming a member involves the following steps:

  • Decide what member category best fits you.
  • Fill out and submit the online membership application.
  • For the Affiliate, Government Research Lab and College/CEGEP applications, the CS-CAN/Info-Can Board of Directors will examine your membership application and will decide your Membership. Please note that the process may take some weeks and we could contact you for further documentation proving the eligibility to become our member.
  • Once your membership application is approved our staff will be back to you with further information about your membership and payment details.

If your department already has a membership, you can add yourself to the distribution list by completing your profile.
