Dr. Rita Orji is a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Persuasive Technology at Dalhousie University, a Member of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists at the Royal Society of Canada, and a globally recognized researcher in the area of Persuasive Technology and Behaviour Change Systems. Within her research, Dr. Orji investigates how to design and evaluate technological interventions such as games and apps to promote social wellness and good. Her research and advocacy in this area has led her to be recognized as one of the top 150 Canadian women in STEM; Top 60 African Women in STEM; Top 80 Women and Non-Binary People in Canada Tech; and a Canada Top 100 Black Women. Her transformative work on Personalizing Persuasive Systems is often covered by the media and Dr. Orji can regularly be found giving presentations and keynotes nationally and internationally. She is particularly passionate about designing technologies to tackle issues faced by under-served populations.
