About the Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering offers educational programs at all university levels in the fields of computer science and software engineering, including cutting-edge courses in artificial intelligence and big data processing. It places strong value on interdisciplinary research and maintains close collaborations with the IID (Institute for Intelligence and Data) as well as with the CRDM (Center for Big Data Research), which it founded. Departmental researchers stand out for the excellence of their work and for establishing national and international partnerships. 1. Position Description
The Faculty of Pharmacy and the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Université Laval invite applications for the position of Director of the interdisciplinary chair entitled:
“Interdisciplinary Research Chair in Pharmacometagenomics: Integrating Artificial Intelligence, Analytical Chemistry, and Nutrition for Personalized Pharmacotherapy Targeting the Gut Microbiome.”
The successful candidate must demonstrate a level of research excellence that enables access to a research chair and will assume the following responsibilities:
- Teach at all academic levels in both faculties
- Supervise students at all academic levels in both faculties
- Conduct research activities enabling access to external funding programs
- Participate in other departmental and university activities within both units
Demonstrate the ability to establish international research collaborations
Selection Criteria
- Hold a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in a discipline relevant to the research area targeted by this position (nutrition, computer science, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, etc.).
- Possess advanced training and/or expertise in the fields required to lead the interdisciplinary chair: nutrition, artificial intelligence, omics sciences, clinical research, pharmaceutical sciences, analytical chemistry, and interdisciplinary research approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct university-level research (e.g., obtaining scholarships and/or research grants, recent peer-reviewed scientific publications, etc.).
- Potential to independently develop the chair’s research program.
- Ability to bring together partners around the chair’s research agenda.
- Demonstrated teaching abilities or potential at all three university cycles, supervision of graduate students, and a commitment to pedagogical innovation.
- Demonstrated potential or commitment to community service.
- Ability to communicate and integrate into the institution’s Francophone environment within a reasonable timeframe.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement.
