The Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria invites applications for a limited‐term Assistant Teaching Professor position starting May 1, 2026 or September 1, 2026. The highly qualified individual employed will be responsible for teaching six courses with flexible assignment (e.g., three courses in the fall term, two courses in the spring term and one course in the summer term) for a 12-month full-time appointment. Part-time appointments with flexible start dates may also be considered.

Candidates should be comfortable teaching a variety of computer science courses, which may include CSC 105, 110, 115, and 375. Computer Science course descriptions can be found at:

Qualifications: Candidates must be experienced in teaching at the postsecondary level and must hold a PhD or Masters in Computer Science or a closely related field. A PhD is preferred.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $90,000. Review of applications will begin March 23, 2026 and continue until the position is filled.

·       Excellence in undergraduate teaching

·       A commitment to pedagogical inquiry and teaching innovation

·       Engagement in teaching-related scholarly activities

·       Leadership potential in advancing undergraduate education

The teaching dossier must include the following information:

·       Teaching statement

·       Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) statement

·       Syllabi of courses taught (if available)

·       Samples of course material

·       Evidence of teaching effectiveness

·       If applicable, evidence of innovative teaching practices or development activities.

Evidence of participation in instructional development (e.g., presentations, publications, or participation in workshops/conferences related to teaching) will be considered an asset.
