Limited‐Term Assistant Teaching Professor Position
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria invites applications for a limited‐term Assistant Teaching Professor position starting January 1, 2025. The highly qualified individual employed will be normally responsible for teaching six courses over three terms with a flexible assignment (e.g., three courses in the fall term, two courses in the spring term and one course in the summer term) for a 12-month full-time appointment. Part-time appointments may also be considered.
Candidates should be comfortable to develop and teach a variety of core computer science courses. These may include Fundamentals of Programming, Algorithms and Data Structures and Theoretical Foundations for Data Science and Applied Science, as well as CSC 501, CSC 502, and CSC 503. Undergraduate courses may include CSC115, 225, 226, 230, 349A. Alternatively, responsibilities may include the development and delivery of assessment of students prior learning.

Qualifications: Candidates must be experienced in teaching at the postsecondary level, have a strong background in coding and mathematics such as linear algebra and probability theory, and must hold a PhD or Masters in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related field. A PhD is preferred.
The candidate’s qualifications and experience will determine a candidate’s final salary offer. The salary for this position includes a salary range of $65,000 – $85,000.
