Computer Science Teacher-Scholar Postdoctoral Fellowship Pilot Program

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria invites qualified applicants
to apply for the Computer Science Teacher-Scholar Postdoctoral Fellowship Pilot Program. This
program aims to enhance research productivity within the department and provide additional
teaching resources. This is a one-year fellowship, renewable for a second year based on
satisfactory teaching performance and continued support from the applicant’s graduate
supervisor.

Eligibility Requirements for Applicants:
 Must hold a doctoral degree in a computing discipline at the time of appointment.
 Must be physically present in Greater Victoria for the start of the fellowship and all
teaching terms.
 Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or hold an appropriate visa at the
start of and for the duration of the fellowship.

The candidate’s qualifications and experience will determine their final salary offer. The salary
range for this position is $60,000 – $85,000.

Interested candidates are encouraged to reach out to faculty members whose research aligns
with their own to explore potential supervisory relationships.

Your application should include the following materials:
 A letter of support from your potential supervisor (including a commitment to pay their
portion of the fellowship).
 A Curriculum Vitae (CV).
 A one-page research statement outlining your proposed research project
 A one-page teaching statement outlining your teaching philosophy, experience, and
areas of interest. Specifying courses taught in the Department of Computer Science at
the University of Victoria would be advantageous.
 A one-page EDI statement describing your approach to EDI in the classroom and
workplace, reflecting on your lived experience if applicable.
 A 15-minute video simulating a computer science classroom lecture covering material
of your choice at the 100, 200, or 300 level. Examples of courses can be found on the
University of Victoria’s website.
