Trinity Western University’s Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position beginning August 16, 2020. The ideal candidate should possess academic and teaching credentials combined with industry familiarity, solid applied research and development experience. Our goal is to build a multi-faceted cluster of leading educators and researchers, with industry profile, who credibly mentor undergraduates by involving them in practical research and by providing them with real-world experiences that prepare them for future careers in a world where they must continually re-educate and re-skill themselves. The successful applicant will be a team player capable of managing and further developing external relationships, leading the department’s successful launching, building and overseeing a work-integrated co-op program in partnership with the TWU Learning Commons. She or he is academically prepared for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level (possibly higher) and has the ability, the insight, and the experience to develop a strong public presence and partnerships with industry that can invigorate recruiting and outreach initiatives.
This tenure-track faculty position will include a stipend for at least the first three years to provide leadership in modernizing the program, including launching a work-integrated co-op program. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Computing Science and successful industry experience in both teaching/mentoring and software engineering. Areas of specific academic and applied interest and experience could include one or more of the following: big data, analytics, virtual reality, user experience design, modeling and simulation, numerical methods, networking, operating systems, programming languages, real-time and process applications, applied discrete mathematics, and/or informatics.
