The Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering invites applications, from qualified individuals, for tenure-track and/or tenured positions at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the broad field of Software Engineering, with preferred expertise in any of the core areas of Software Engineering including but not limited to software quality assurance, system modelling, requirements engineering, performance engineering, software security, and artificial intelligence. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on January 3, 2023, or as soon as it is filled.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.

The Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering (ECSE) offers honours undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, and Software Engineering. Also degrees in Engineering and Management for each of these programs are offered. The Department also offers Master’s (MASc and MEng) and PhD programs in Electrical Computer Engineering (with various specializations), Master’s (MASc and MEng) in Software Engineering, and a graduate program (MEng) in Engineering Management. The Department is committed to excellence and innovation in interdisciplinary teaching and research, which is relevant to the needs of society and our surroundings. The candidate should possess a Ph.D. in Software Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science or any other related field, a strong academic background, and an established record of excellence in innovative and scholarly research leading to peer-reviewed publications.

The candidate must be registered or eligible for and committed to registration as a Professional Engineer (PEng) in the Province of Ontario. Related industrial experience or academic leadership experience would be considered an asset. The candidate must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions.

In addition, candidates should possess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships  with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association.  The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the  collective agreement.
