Lecturer Position in Cybersecurity and Privacy

The David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science invites applications for one (1) three-year definite-term faculty position (renewable) in cybersecurity and privacy at the rank of Lecturer. A master’s degree in computer science or a related field, awarded or anticipated, is required, but preference will be given to candidates with a PhD degree. Candidates are also expected to have teaching experience. Interest in course development is required.

This position is opened in the context of significantly expanding university-level course offerings in cybersecurity and privacy. During the first year, the Lecturer will work with other faculty members to develop several new undergraduate courses in cybersecurity and privacy. Subsequently, these courses will be taught by the Lecturer as well as other faculty members. The School is considering the creation of a new master’s program in cybersecurity and privacy. The Lecturer is expected to play a leading role in designing this program.

Lecturers also undertake administrative and other duties as determined by the Director of the School. Other duties may consist of an additional course, academic advising, or other significant administrative duty. Typical administrative duties will consist of serving on School committees and participating in recruiting and outreach events.

Salary will be commensurate with experience; the salary range is $75,000 to $100,000 and negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates. The expected start date is January 1, 2022 though the actual start date is flexible.
