The School of Computer Science at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in Artificial Intelligence at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with an expected start date of no earlier than July 1, 2021.

Qualifications:

Education and Background:
Candidates must hold a PhD in Computer Science or related field at the time of appointment. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong commitment for both postsecondary teaching and conducting independent research. Prior academic experience is an important asset.

Scholarship:
Candidates should have an outstanding research and publication record in the broad area of artificial intelligence, with a strong preference for those working in the areas of machine learning, data mining, and bioinformatics. The successful candidate has proposed an independent and fundable research program in the Research Statement and has demonstrated a capacity to conduct novel research that will expand and complement our current research strengths. Candidate research programs that foster economic growth and improve the lives of Canadians will be favourably considered.

Teaching:
Candidates should have strong undergraduate teaching interest and have demonstrated ability to teach at the university level commensurate with candidate background. They should have the ability to teach core computer science undergraduate courses and graduate courses related to the research area. They must demonstrate supervision experience (students, staff) on research-oriented projects.

Service:
Candidates should provide evidence of community engagement, within academic and/or other communities, such as conference organization, student club or student council, participation in outreach, volunteering, etc., that is indicative of being able to provide service to the School, University, and research community.
