She is currently a senior lecturer and a Rajan Family Scholar at the School of Computing Science, Simon Fraser University.<\/p><\/div><div id=\"cncbio-giulia-toti\"><p>Dr. Giulia Toti is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Computer Science Department at the University of British Columbia (UBC) - Vancouver. Her academic background includes a Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Houston. She teaches large undergraduate courses on introduction to systematic programming, applied machine learning, and ethics in computer science. She is also the chair of her departmental Committee for Outreach, Diversity and Equity (CODE).<\/p><\/div><div id=\"cncbio-mantaj-dhillon\"><p>Mantaj is a Computing Science student at Simon Fraser University and a past president of SFU Women in Computing Science (WiCS). Outside of her leadership activities, she is dedicated to building technology that is challenging, meaningful, and capable of real change. She is a huge supporter of women in tech and casually enjoys heading outdoors and building small, crafty projects.<\/p><\/div><div id=\"cncbio-gizem-kurekci-polat\"><p>Gizem Kurekci Polat is an MSc student in the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in Electrical Engineering, and her master\u2019s research focuses on human-centric networked systems, exploring how technology can better support human needs and interactions. She is also interested in machine learning and artificial intelligence and is eager to expand her knowledge in these areas. Gizem enjoys collaborating with others, learning about emerging technologies, and contributing to an inclusive computing community that encourages women and diverse individuals to pursue careers in technology. As a member of the event management team for CAN-CWiC West 2026, she is excited to help create a welcoming conference where students, researchers, and professionals can connect, share ideas, and build meaningful connections.<\/p><\/div><div id=\"cncbio-emily-qin\"><p>Emily is a third year student in Computing Science at SFU, part of the team that started CAN-CWiC West in 2024 and is thrilled for the third iteration, as a Registration Manager! Her leadership roles include Mentorship Coordinator for WiCS and Events Director of the CSSS. She was inspired to run for these positions due to the powerful and supportive women in the SFU computing community. I love reading books and writing, and there isn\u2019t a day that goes by without me reading. I also make it a priority to exercise every day. In my free time, I enjoy creating videos and capturing photographs, and I am deeply passionate about supporting and encouraging women in Computer Science.<\/p><p>I am currently pursuing my Master\u2019s in Computing Science at Simon Fraser University, where I have gained experience in teaching, research, data engineering, and machine learning. I currently work as a Research Assistant in Natural Language Processing (NLP), with a research focus on text processing for large language models (LLMs), contributing to the Parabix high-performance text processing framework. I also work as a Data Engineering Intern at Cavallo Technologies, where I build data solutions using Python, SQL, and Databricks. My previous experience includes developing machine learning models, performing data analysis, and conducting AI research.<\/p><\/div><div id=\"cncbio-isabelle-kwan\"><p>Isabelle is a computing science student at SFU, thrilled to be part of the organizing team for CAN-CWIC West for the third year in a row. An active member of her community, Isabelle volunteers with her student society and clubs such as Women in Computing Science (WiCS). At SFU\u2019s Tangent Lab, she works at the intersection of HCI, robotics, and AI; her team\u2019s co-design study on diminished reality as attention support for students with ADHD was recently accepted to DIS 2026. She currently works as a Software Engineer Co-op at Kardium Inc., on the manufacturing software behind a cardiac ablation device for atrial fibrillation. On campus, she is the sole developer behind The Peak Publication, SFU\u2019s independent student newspaper, which reaches over 2,000 readers a month, and she previously handled marketing for CAN-CWiC 2025 as part of SFU Women in Computing Science. Outside of professional life, she is passionate about photography, music, and taking long walks by the ocean.<\/p><\/div><div id=\"cncbio-nicole-chu\"><p>Nicole Chu is a second-year Business + Computer Science student at UBC who enjoys combining business strategies with technical problem-solving!
