The Faculty of Computer Science invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. This call is limited to candidates with teaching or research expertise in all areas related to Artificial Intelligence, including but not limited to Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Human-Centred AI, User Modeling, Data Science, and the application of AI to games. We seek exceptional candidates with high quality research and publications to strengthen and complement our current training and research programs. Entrepreneurship, industrial experience, and ability to collaborate on both research and industry-focused projects will be considered assets.<\/p>\n<p>The Assistant Professors appointed to these positions will be in the Faculty of Computer Science but will optionally be associated with the Research Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (<a href=\"https:\/\/unb.ca\/ridsai\">RIDSAI<\/a>). RIDSAI is UNB\u2019s interdisciplinary team that seeks to advance and to be leaders in AI and Data Science for the University, the province, and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>To be considered for the position the applicant should have a PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or in a relevant discipline; additional related experience will be an asset. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, work with industry, and be able to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the programs offered by the Faculty of Computer Science. Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to work on team projects are essential.<\/p>\n<p>The University of New Brunswick, established in 1785, has more than 10,000 students and 500 faculty members. The faculty is Canada\u2019s first Faculty of Computer Science (established in 1990) and hosts approximately 450 undergraduate students, 120 graduate students and 30 faculty members; and offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering (in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering), and research-based Masters and PhD degrees, in addition to a Master of Computer Science by Coursework and Master of Applied Cybersecurity. The Faculty is an active participant in Co-Op programs that places students in work terms across Canada.<\/p>\n<p>This position is subject to final budgetary approval and will start on January 1st, 2026 or shortly thereafter. Review of applications will begin July 21st, 2025 and will continue until the position is filled. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
