The Department of Computer Science at The University of British Columbia (UBC) is one of the top two computer science departments in Canada. UBC is ranked as one of the world’s top 25 universities for computer science with a comprehensive set of degree programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Undergraduate students can earn a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, or Bachelor of Commerce as a first degree or a Bachelor of Computer Science as a second degree. There are a number of options for combined or joint degrees as well as computer science minors for students earning degrees in other disciplines. At the graduate level there are multiple options leading to Master of Science degrees in computer science or data science and also a doctoral program leading to a PhD in computer science.

The department has internationally recognized research activities underway in most of the major areas of interest within computer science as well as research collaborations with various other disciplines in partnership with other academic units, industry, and government and public sector agencies.
