Postdoctoral position in Mathematical Neuroinformatics
|Deadline (Review)/Date limite (Revue)||30 Apr 2019 (Posted: 20 Mar 2019)|
A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Mark Daleyin the Department of Computer Science at The University of Western Ontario and will commence in September 1, 2019 (or agreed upon start date). This position involves research in areas related to the advanced analysis and modelling of the function and structure of the human brain. Building on recent successes in the application of persistent homology and topological data analysis to the brain, we are interested in borrowing tools and techniques from algebraic geometry to provide an alternative lens through which to interrogate neural data.
Applicants must have expertise in algebraic geometry, homology and homotopy, and multivariate statistics. The successful candidate will also have strong communication skills and experience in teaching.
This position has a two-year term with a flexible start date of September 1, 2019. The salary will be $67,000CDN per year. The positions will involve teaching two half-courses per year, in addition to research. Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in July 2016 or later.
The filling of these positions is subject to budgetary considerations. Please direct all enquiries and application packages, which should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae andthe contact information for three references, to Mark Daley at email@example.com. At least one reference should be able to comment on the teaching abilities of the applicant and one of the references should be the PhD supervisor. Please include “PDF in Mathematical Neuroinformatics” in the subject line of your email.
Applications will be considered until April 30 2019.
