Applications are invited for the position of Chair, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science. Applications from candidates who must hold at least the rank of Associate Professor with tenure or its international equivalent, will be considered. A record of high quality undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervision, and research in Computer Science is required, as well as some administrative and research leadership experience. Applicants must have a PhD degree in Computer Science or related discipline, and a strong record of research productivity in the form of publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings, awards, invited talks and other scholarly achievements. The successful candidate will have a clear vision for the direction of the Department, demonstrated leadership ability and integrity, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to be a strong advocate for the Department. The successful candidate will be forward thinking and able to recognize, take, and create; research, education, and interdisciplinary opportunities. They must have the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships both within Science and across the Western community, as well as in the Canadian Computer Science academic and industrial communities.

The Chair will consult with the Dean on Departmental budgetary requirements and administer the Departmental budget. The Chair will also be expected to develop and facilitate the implementation of a Departmental academic, research and administrative plan that will aim to position the Department within the top tier of Canadian Computer Science departments.
