The Department of Computer Science (CPSC) at the University of Calgary seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must possess a PhD in Computer Science (or equivalent) at the time of appointment. The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of a track record of publications in high quality journals and conferences. Successful applicants must also show a strong willingness to contribute to the department’s innovative teaching and research initiatives. Applicants are sought in any area of Computer Science.

We are particularly seeking candidates in the following areas: distributed computing, high performance computing, operating systems, software engineering, theoretical aspects of computer science, innovation in teaching and learning, data science, human-computer interaction, information visualization as well as social and ethical aspects of computer science.

The applicant must have strong interests in multi-disciplinary approaches and also be able to work in close collaboration with other researchers at the University of Calgary. Interdisciplinarity in an applicant’s research is an asset. There will be opportunities to be engaged in the University of Calgary’s Entrepreneurial Thinking and Digital Innovation initiatives.

The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research program aligned with the University of Calgary’s Eyes High vision, and to provide high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He/she will actively recruit and supervise graduate students.Peer-reviewed external funding is expected to be obtained and sustained. Industry experience is an asset.
