The Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in the area of Computer Science, at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with a start date of July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

Candidates from all areas of computer science are encouraged to apply. A PhD in computer science or a related field is required by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter. We seek enthusiastic and innovative candidates whose teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing strengths. Candidates must have a record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level in a degree granting program including lecture preparation/delivery, curriculum development, and development of online materials/lectures. Candidates must have a record of teaching-related scholarship, demonstrate intellectual curiosity, a commitment to pursue novel/innovative methods of thinking and teaching, pedagogical enquiry,and teaching innovations. Candidates should possess demonstrated administrative, organizational, and mentoring skills required to coordinate large courses with multiple sections, instructors, and TAs, and the background and communication skills to interact with the department.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical enquiry can be demonstrated through a full teaching dossier, which should include a statement of teaching philosophy, course syllabi, course evaluations, selected course materials, a list of any awards, evidence of teaching-related scholarly activities, and outstanding letters of reference from referees of high standing. Responsibilities of the successful candidate include undergraduate teaching, managing teaching assistants, creation of course materials, curriculum development, and service to the department.
